Pepper (www.peppercontent.io) is building India’s largest content marketplace that brings companies and content creators together to scale up content creation processes across 10 content verticals and 150+ content categories, 40+ content verticals, and 40+ global languages. Over the past 3.5 years, we’ve worked with brands like Adobe, upGrad, Swiggy, Dunzo, BusinessWorld, Digit,  Shiksha.com, Rapido, BookMyShow, UrbanClap, Yatra, Bewakoof, YourStory, Bharat Matrimony, and 1000+ other brands. We have over 45,000+ writers and graphic designers who have applied to Pepper so far, who form part of the ‘Pepper Cloud’.


We are on the path to building a global on-demand content marketplace platform that allows for collaboration, discovery and upskilling for all our creators. Now we are in a rapid expansion phase to enter into more content service offerings, engage a wide spectrum of content creators and at the same time, scale up our existing services. 


A category lead will be the overall P&L owner of a typical business unit at Pepper. A business unit at Pepper stands for different streams of content in this industry on the likes of text, language, design, etc. With design being one of our newer segments, we expect the Category Head to come in and establish major processes across different pillars and also plan out how the category will eventually grow into different things. Major functions that will eventually help in growing a category include revenue, supply, operations, and product


This individual will report directly to the co-founders of the company. The role is based out of Mumbai.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Working on the roadmap for the Graphic Design business unit across levers such as product, revenue, supply, expansion, etc.

  • Own key metrics of the category - topline, margins, quality, delivery, and supply

  • Building out revenue plans with the central business team on the revenue growth of the design category across different industries and channels on a monthly/ quarterly basis. Parallelly, working with the central supply team on how much and what kind of supply should we target to meet the business requirement

  • Streamlining operations for the category by reviewing existing processes and establishing new ones. Filling in process level loopholes to make the entire operations journey seamless - primarily delivery and quality of output

  • Working with the product team to keep evolving the product to enhance user experience and improve marketplace operations efficiency

  • Drive go-to-market strategy for launching new markets and new channels

  • Structuring and building our team for the design category


The ideal candidate must have -


  • Prior work experience of 8-12 years

  • Ideally 3+ years of experience in the P&L role. If not, some P&L experience would definitely be preferred

  • Consulting experience followed by a high growth startup experience would be a good fit

  • Having led teams in the past is a mandatory

  • Strong operational projects background would be a plus

  • An analytical thought process with data-driven approach to problem-solving

  • Strong experience in managing highly fluid work environments and in managing multiple at the same time

  • Positive thinking problem solver; flexible about all actions
